Hingston & Olsen Ghost Box II

Someone on this board last year introduced us to Hingston & Olsen and their Ghost Box.

This year they have another with a couple of authors you may recognize:

    Less apple, more razor blade.
The Ghost Box returns, like a mummy or a batman, to once again make your pupils dilate and the hair on your arms stand straight up—it’s another collection of individually bound scary stories, edited and introduced by comedian and spooky specialist Patton Oswalt.

Ghost Box II includes stories by:
    • Gertrude Atherton
    • Louisa Baldwin
    • Robert Hugh Benson
    • Tananarive Due
    • Harlan Ellison
    • Janet Fox
    • Patricia Highsmith
    • Joe Hill
    • Stephen King
    • Julius Long
    • Michael Shea
Like last year, each handmade box features a matte-black finish, an iridescent colour-shifting foil stamp on top, and a magnetized lid. The booklets once again have debossed design details and are bound with brass staples. This year’s edition also includes a ribbon bookmark, of which we’re pretty fond.

“Because when we’re terrified about the enormity of the universe’s indifference, and our smallness in the face of it, we tell stories. When we’re powerless to shape and control our fear, we tell stories. When we feel alone, we tell stories.”
    — from Patton Oswalt's introduction

This looks promising from the website.. But has anyone read the Ghost box I ? Any opinions on the quality of stories in it ? Short stories are sometimes not so satisfying to me since there isn't much character development to get invested into. However, I still like them in general and would love to hear if anybody could please give some inputs. I wouldn't want to buy a book just because it looks good on their website lol, although seeing quite a few big name authors in there. They do publish brand new stories or just an assimilation of older stories ?

I believe the first Ghost Box was all reprints. I have read a couple of them and really liked them. With that said I love short stories so your views could easily vary. Based on the photo's it appears the King story will be Gray Matter.

I ordered the first box last year, and was so impressed by it that I immediately ordered this second box when I received the email this morning. Fantastic production qualities.

Sweet! When I saw the announcement for the second box, I went to look to see if the first box was available since I never did purchase it - it wasn't. But the bundle works even better! Plus save a few bucks! And the exchange rate is relatively nice again too, so even better!

In other words, I ordered the bundle!

I am broke but this looks like a nice production. Irradiates (LOL) me that I have to pass on things.

For those who have purchased Ghost Box II and have Facebook, Patton Oswalt will be conducting a read along starting October 20th. I can't provide more details as I am to antisocial for social media.
