    BACKSHOT by Gorman and Piccirilli

Dan or Brian, I'm curious to know the genesis behind the two BACKSHOT volumes. Same title, similar novella length, similar dustjacket art...and yet they aren't being marketed as companion volumes, nor are they mirrored in theme. Was this a project that started out differently than it turned out to be or ...?

I think the project changed direction a few times during the writing process, but the authors still liked the idea of having them linked to some degree.
