Is that a 3D image? Or is the type actually raised? Pretty cool either way.

it is raised. it was done using a 3d printer. The book collector and tech nerd in me love it.

Got my copy of Sand by Hugh Howey today, complete with sand from the beach near his house.

No, it's a separate story. He thought the sand would be a nice touch. He walked to the beach by his house and filled a couple bags up and sprinkled it in the books as he signed.

He did write three short stories in the Wool universe that will appear in 3 anthologies this year and next.

Good thing it wasn't pale sand. Get a bunch of books sliced up at customs.

Howey sure is intriguing - I stumbled upon Wool (haven't got myself a copy yet...yet) and now this one.

McDermott with some girth! That must be past 500 pages at least the pic makes it look that way.

I think it is just over 500. Most of his books are in the 400-450 page range.

Three books came today! The first is Red Rising by Pierce Brown, which has been signed and dated, along with a stamp that represents that this book was signed at the launch party in San Diego. I also received Four Zombies and Dreamlike States
