    Call for Submissions: Abattoir Press

    Open Door Month: March 2012!

Abattoir Press will begin accepting novella submissions from March 1, 2012 until March 31, 2012.

We are looking for dark fiction between 20,000 and 30,000 words in length. When we say dark fiction, we mean fiction that is horror or has a horror “flavor” to it; dark crime is more than acceptable, as is mixed-genre fare. It need not include supernatural elements, though it certainly can. We don’t mind gore, but we are less interested in gore for gore’s sake than violence as a symptom of a larger, deeper conflict.

Accepted novellas will be published over the course of 2012 in e-book format, appearing on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Smashwords. They will also be collected in a paperback omnibus format to be released late 2012/early 2013.

To submit: please send the complete manuscript in a Word document file to redrumhorror@gmail.com. You must include a complete synopsis of the story (approx. 3-5 pages in length) and a cover letter that describes your previous publications (if any) and a brief bio. In the subject line, put NOVELLA SUBMISSION: [Your Title].

Please allow 60-90 days for a response.

Materials submitted prior to March 1, 2012 or after March 31, 2012 will be not be considered.

Inquiries can be directed to E K Zimmerman at redrumhorror@gmail.com.

    Thanks, and good luck!
