What is that? Some sort of frisbee? I love all those publisher bits and pieces people have on their shelves - bookmarks, plaques etc.

Yea it was from the CD goes to the beach grab bag a little over a year ago. And it's technically a boomerang. It takes a little bit to get used to throwing them.

Rumaging through the paperbacks my grandmother left me (which I tend to do when the current book I'm reading isn't really interesting me), I found another book that has shot to the top of TBR:

        12-14-2012 04;26;27PM (372x640).jpg

A first print pb of this 1968 SF book. What struck me was the similarity of the title to Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men, with "men" in place of "mice" and "monsters" in place of "men." I've looked through these shelves 100s of times since 93 and I'm still amazed at some of the things I find.

I wikied the novel and found out it was about Earth having been conquered by an alien race and Mankind has descended into savagery (the jacket dosn't give any clue as to the subject of the book). The author died in 2010.

Nice haul on the grab bag. Maybe I should have grabbed that last one. I do have Pork Pie Hat from the dinged book sale, but whose to say I would have ended up with that one anyway.

I am, you would have... lol. We used a Pork Pie Hat in every one of these "Last Grab Bags of 2012" and I don't think we counted it towards the overall dollar value of the books.

Thanks! I didn't mean to imply that I was unhappy with the grab bag at all, because I'm not. I only have 4 repeat books and 4 repeat chapbooks (two of which I purposefully bought). I really have no interest in Gideon's Sword, but now that I have one that is missing the signature page, I might be interested in getting the sequel--as long as IT is missing the sig page also!

My Forum Member's GBs had some nice selections in it:
                    Unsigned pbs:

A neat little title from Shadowfall Publications:
                    DSCF3258 (480x640).jpg

I couldn't get a decent pic of this book for some reason; this was the best of about 20 I took:
                    DSCF3283 (480x640).jpg

Not really into mysteries, but something I might give a try someday:

                      some signed pbs:

                      From Bloodletting Press:
Really like the cover art by Mike Bohatch.
                      DSCF3242 (480x640).jpg

                      DSCF3244 (480x640).jpg

                      From Zombie Feed Books:
                      DSCF3246 (480x640).jpg

I assume that's the author's signature (of course it could a child's scrawl and I'd never know the difference!

An intriguing selection. Michael Slade is the psuedonym for a father-daughter writing team. #12 of a series.

                        DSCF3254 (480x640).jpg

                        Then an unsigned tpb:

                        DSCF3262 (480x640).jpg

That's it for the pbs of GB.

Each FMGB came with an HC:

Not anything really up my alley, but you never know.

                          DSCF3264 (480x640).jpg

                          DSCF3266 (480x640).jpg

All-in-all, a terrific GB; glad I got two!

Finally, I took advantage of the Dark REgions Press 50% off sale and got this:

                            DSCF3272 (173x640).jpgDSCF3274 (480x640).jpg

                            DSCF3276 (480x640).jpg

Never read anything by Ollie; I bought it mostly because I had a Deluxe copy of the other title in their Dark Thriller imprint. Alo that it was half off and I had some store credit built up.
