Now that I look again at the LRB Exorcist page, I see the slipcase, traycase, dust jacket, endpapers and interior art, but I don't think I see any actual photos of the book (cover) itself. Maybe I'm being daft - but if not, do you have any such photos? I'd love to see it.

The Folio Society now has an edition of The Exorcist, which appears to use the LRB artwork (it looks nice, but I still prefer the LRB edition).

Yep, they do! Sometimes you will see other editions that reprint the artwork from a LRB or CD special edition. We never tie-up the artist's rights to their work beyond exactly what rights we need for our edition. It's hard enough to make a living as an artist without publishers reducing your avenues of revenue for no good reason.

Fun Fact: There are some foreign editions of Stephen King books that use OUR covers, which I always think is awesome but confuses some people.

Interestingly, 3 lettered copies are available through abebooks.com. 3 of 26 up for sale seems a lot, especially on the same site...

Prices don't seem outrageous, for those of you who are commonly in the market for such things as lettered editions.

Does the mass market HarperCollins release of the 40th anniversary edition of The Exorcist contain any of the artwork featured in the Lonely Road edition? This may seem like a dumb question, but I'm thinking of the fact that the mass market illustrated Salem's Lot shares the same artwork as Centipede Press' fantastic limited edition.

I'm looking for a copy of The Exorcist and since a Lonely Road copy (which looks fantastic and would be my first choice) is a bit outside my price range (currently available for $140 on eBay right now, lower than I usually see but more than I want to do at the moment), I may go for the ordinary HC release. If that has the great artwork, that may nudge me in that direction.

While on the topic, any thoughts about the text differences between the original and the 40th anniversary edition?

The Lonely Road Books edition came out after that trade edition, and the artwork for the LRB edition was commissioned specifically for that edition.

To my knowledge we have had nothing to do with the Harper Collins release. So my guess would be that it doesn't. I don't know for sure though, as I don't hear everything that goes on here, and they could have gone directly to the artist as well.

It's not a typo, but the stamping didn't fully press and the Y didn't imprint.

Will it increase the value if I add a Y in gold sharpie?
