For ther first time in my life (I think) I decided not to go for a deluxe signed (by SK) limited.
Instead, I just went for the $60.00 edition.
Hope I won't regret this.

Traveling today and had just enough time to check my email on my phone between flights. Very surprised to see emails from PS and CD announcing a new Stephen King story. I am not in a position to purchase the Deluxe edition but have no issue with the price. I did place my order for the $60.00 edition. It will be a nice addition to my collection.

Just to cannibalize something I posted elsewhere, there is also the $60 edition for those collectors who don't want or can't swing the high-end deluxe edition:

And there is also the trade edition being published in the UK for the general reader, so all of the bases are covered, so to speak: regular readers, general collectors, and the collectors who love the really deluxe, special editions.

I would absolutely understand someone being upset if the only way to read a new story was in a $995 edition -- that's INSANE!! -- but these stories will be accessible to readers and collectors of all levels and incomes. In my mind, everyone wins.

Obviously, everyone brings something different to the table when this pricing discussion/conversation pops-up, but those are my two cents for what they're worth. Thanks!

Just an update: approximately 1/2 of our copies of the Limited Edition have now sold and 34 of our 43 copies of the deluxe edition are gone as well.

Thats an answer but i still can't see how it would mean $750 more than the Earthling publication. With that i'm pretty sure that %99 of collectors have been priced out? I will be very interested in seeing how they sell.

Looks to be a great book and i am sure the work in side is of the highest quality but the pricing for the signed edition seems way out. I'm sure with all the expensive materials used will be the reason behind the price, but Earthling published a great quality anathology signed by most of the authors and it was $250!

To steal what Brian said elsewhere.

We don't discuss pricing decisions because we do not publicly discuss our contracts, but this one isn't going to be normal edition and the price is appropriate for our costs and plans for the production.

This edition is signed by nearly 20 contributors, it will be bound in an expensive high-end material we never use for "normal" books, and we're using our "Stephen King" Lettered Edition case maker for the traycase, so it's going to be an ultra-deluxe edition.

In addition, this book is licensed from the UK publisher, who held the rights, and they need paid, and some of the authors require special payments to sign... so the cost of producing this edition before we even PRINT A SINGLE COPY is more than some people in thread think we should be charging.

If you feel the price is too high, that's absolutely your right -- but the idea that we (and PS Publishing) should sell any product at a LOSS doesn't make any sense at all.
