Here are my last three acquisitions all by a gentleman you know Glen Chadbourne

Rick Hautala's Moondeath cover
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/paperdragon57/collection%202/MoondeathGlenChadbourneRickHautala.jpg

I was possessed to acquire this from the moment CD first posted the art for the calender, something about it resonated with me. I had not read the story till after I got the art.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/paperdragon57/collection%202/TheRainySeasonChadbourne.jpg

From Stephen King's the Monkey, one of the illustrations out of Secretary of Dreams II. This piece in person is so much cooler than any scan can deliver, it is truly beautiful to behold.

I just received my copy of Knowing Darkness. It was one of the dinged copies, which was totally fine by me. It is gorgeous. Mine are all on the bottom of the Slipcase.

Hedda Gabler
04-28-2012, 01:30 AM
I found 3 dings on my Knowing Darkness. One was kind of a bigger one and two were nothing, but to a collector, I'm sure a big no-no.

1. There was a crack on the inside of the slipcase, very small. Hate to mention it.
2. A little bit of dry glue just at the edge of the front cover of the book. Again, so tiny I hate to even mention it.
3. The bigger one was a fold on one of the pages affecting two pieces of artwork, front and back. Thankfully, the fold does not interfere with the main body of the art on front or back, and they were two pieces of art that I was least interested in. (I won't mention the artwork as I don't want to insult any artist. Don't get me wrong, beautiful artwork, just two that held less meaning to me.)

But, as I said, I was thrilled with my acquisition. For the price, I am so pleased. Personally, I think I got the better deal -- shhhhhh, don't tell CD.

Hedda Gabler
04-28-2012, 02:03 AM
I really shouldn't have even mentioned the first two. You can barely see these and you really have to look very close to even notice. I only mention them as I know collector's go over their's with an eagle eye, so I just did the same to see what I could see. The fold in the page is unfortunate, but, honestly, it doesn't take away from its value for me. It is a beautiful book.

Truthfully we wouldn't know if there was a bent page or not. 99% of them are still shrink wrapped. Also I think they where originally $250 books.

Oh, I'm not complaining one bit. There was a reason these books were discounted. Cemetery Dance gave full disclosure and I took my chances with what I would get. The fact that I had a bent page does not take away from this book at all in my eyes. I am still very happy with it.

Now, if I would have paid full price for it, I would not want that bent page and I would have talked to them about it. This was a book bought under different circumstances.

My first compalint about Easton Press in the 6 years I've been ordering from them: I started the Master and Commander contract with them for the 20 book set, receiving one a month. I got the first one and I just got notice that they sent me the 10th book in the seires! I had to call and request that they be sent in sequential order! I lost the ebay auction. It went over my limit but I'm sure I'll get another opportunity to buy a copy.

On similar note, does anyone see any benefit to PC copies of limited edition books over their numbered counterparts? There is a copy of the book I wanted on ebay for sale on horror-mall.com, but it is a PC copy of the numbered edition. I'd prefer the numbered edition since...I don't know, but it seems worth having a numbered copy over the PC copy for some reason, even though there are less PC copies then the numbered copy. Any thoughts/opinions? Thanks.

Price wise is usually see them go for the same of their counterpart. So I'd be happy with either or myself. Its still limited and still signed.

Aside from the ebay auction, the horror-mall.com listing is the only other copy I've seen online and it costs about a dollar more then the ebay auction went for, so I may go with that one at some point. Thanks for your input.

I have 2 PCs. The Passage by Justin Cronin (I foolishly let the opportunity to get it #ed pass by) and Regret by Gabrielle Faust (part of a Dark Regions grab bag.) I tend to pass up the PC version for a #ed if I can find it--it's always cost me more, tho.

I have a few new Stephen King proof items, but I can't post any pictures yet. My old computer died (the power supply went out) and I had to get a new computer. The scanner I have doesn't work with the new one, which has Windows 7, so I have to go get a new scanner sometime soon.

Groo & Rufferto

Everything sounds great but I love Groo. Congrats!

Whenever I buy books from the library, I always flip through them, thinking wouldn't it be cool if I found some odd piece of paper or some other strange thing left behind by someone, and tonight I actually found something. I was looking through Neil Peart's "Ghost Rider" and found a Ticketmaster ticket for a Rush concert in 2002 in Milwaukee. Not used. I thought that was pretty cool (although I would have preferred a lotterly ticket!)

I love finding hidden treasures like that. I have found lots of neat pictures over the years. I love used books. Good hunting.

Now that I have my new scanner, here are some new proofs I've gotten:

A Book of Horrors (The Liitle Green God of Agony):

Scars, by Richard Christian Matheson (Introduction):

And a complete set of printers proofs of Cell:

This latter may also be called blue lines. According to the seller, there were no more than 20 of these done. Most, I assume, were used by the printer and destroyed.

Thanks for the reminder on book of horrors. Been meaning to get that one. I believe PS still has a few copies if they still do anyway...that was a week or two ago that I checked.
