    Stephen King's IT:

I thought there was already a thread for this movie but could not find it.

Looks like the theatrical release of IT will finally begin filming this summer. As this project has shown it could all go sideways in a hurry but this is a good sign.

Jaeden Lieberher joins Bill Skarsgard in Stephen King’s “It” remake:

I loved this young man's performance in St. Vincent. I am getting more excited for "It" with each piece of news I hear about it.

Me too, Martin. I think a lot of fans might be more pleased with this one more than The Dark Tower. I'm glad they are breaking it up into two films.

That is an excellent idea, no rushing the plot line so all the info makes it into the film.

Here's Bill Skarsgård's thoughts on playing Pennywise:

It's important that we do something fresh and original for this one. It's purposely not going toward that weird, greasy look.

Tim Curry's performance was truly great, but it's important for me to do something different because of that. I'll never be able to make a Tim Curry performance as good as Tim Curry.

It truly enjoys the shape of the clown Pennywise, and enjoys the game and the hunt. What's funny to this evil entity might not be funny to everyone else. But he thinks it's funny.

This is good news. We need more well-crafted R-rated horror films and, for studios, money talks.

Great movie. Can't wait for IT: Chapter Two.

I checked this out two days ago and I liked it for the most part. I thought the kids were great and the scares were solid. It didn't knock my socks off and probably won't break into my top horror movies for 2017, but it was no where near the unmitigated disaster that people were worried about. I think my biggest complaint is that the movie felt "safe". I have a faint memory of the mini-series and I've never read the book (I know, I know), so I'm familiar enough about the story but not all the details, but I had no fear for the safety of the characters, which kills some of the suspense. But that opening scene with Georgie...god, that was good.

I'm definitely going to check out Chapter II when it comes out, though.

I was also going to say that while I was watching IT: Chapter I, I kept thinking about why someone hasn't done an adaptation of Summer of Night by Dan Simmons. Well, looks like someone else thought the same thing: http://deadline.com/2017/09/summer-o...de-1202172482/
