Trying to find a good company to get some slipcases made -- I've found a few companies online, but loathe to give them my business without a recommendation. Anyone have a recommendation on a slipcase maker that they've been happy with?

I'm sure someone here has a few contacts. The only time I've purchased one for myself is from bookslipcase.com. They do custom made wood slip and tray cases. They do great work.

There is a guy in the UK who does great work. Usually in the $30 range with shipping. His name is Jeff Whiley. I don't have his email anymore. I'm sure someone here can provide it for you. He can even do custom foil stamping but that will cost more due to the plates needed. Here is an example:

Looks like an existing thread (http://forum.cemeterydance.com/showthread.php?1875-Production-Update-Questions&p=67789&viewfull=1#post67789) had his e-mail information. $30 with shipping is a great price. I'm now contemplating one or more actually.

I can second that sentiment. Awesome cases, but a little more pricey.

I think so too Dan but I really like the textured feel of the ones you guys produce over at CD. My Finders Keepers is scheduled to arrive today :D. I tried to delete The Green Mile slipcase shown above as that's just an example photo from Jeff that I accidentally attached :-/.

Oh totally. I like ours as well, but it's just a completely different style. We tend to try and match the design of the books dust jacket instead of creating a cohesive look across all of the cases.

And that's what I really like about the cases that you guys produce, Dan. I'd really like to see you guys produce more for older titles but I'm not sure what the demand would be in order to make it profitable. I missed out on some because I discovered you guys too late.

Yes he does, Theli! I'm really please with them.

Now the fore mentioned case that arrived today :D

I think the Finders Keepers case came out great. Not my favorite of the King cases, that'll go to Revival, but still pretty darn good, in my opinion.

The material we found for The Bazaar of Bad Dreams is terrific. We were able to find something that really works with the matte finish of the book's DJ. The hot foil stamping was an interesting problem because there's a lot "going on" with that artwork, and you have to be careful with the stamping that it doesn't just end up being a solid mess. I think our designer came up with something really nice for that. Can't wait have a sample case so I can show it off!

I'm sure it will be pretty cool no doubt. I messed up and only ordered 1 :-/. Hopefully there will be a few extras as usual.

And I just realized that I spaced and didn't order a slipcase for Bazaar. So disappointed in myself! Fingers crossed that they are extras (and I don't miss the announcement.) Maybe an extra can bet set aside since I've bought the last who knows how many every time? ;)

We've been moving away from even selling the UK Trades. They're kinda hard to get a hold of in bulk and they almost always arrive in pretty poor condition.

I was thinking more along the lines of slipcases for the older titles like you guys are thinking about doing for the U.S. editions but I also understand that you guys are in the publishing business, not the slipcase business. And I'm not sure there'd really be a market here for it as I'm sure not everyone (King fans) even collect U.K. editions. Plus the older U.S titles are probably on hand for measurements whereas the U.K.s, not so much. But you guys must be doing something right. Browsing through eBay for shits and grins; folks are asking almost double the issue price. Not sure if they are actually getting it though.

Yeah, it's the per unit cost of production that makes it tough for us to produce slipcases for the UK editions. When we were announcing brand new SK titles from the UK publisher, we'd just barely get enough orders to keep the price reasonable for the UK slipcase. We don't want to charge a "crazy" amount for a slipcase, you know? I'm sure some collectors wouldn't mind the higher prices and would understand how production costs work (less volume = higher cost to us that has to be passed along in the form the retail price), but a lot of the more "casual" SK fans lose their minds over the pricing and it becomes a hassle for Mindy.

So doing slipcases for the older UK titles probably wouldn't generate enough orders to keep things reasonable, unfortunately. I, personally, really like my UK hardcovers, though!

I hear ya, Brian and appreciate the personal reply; being a fellow King nut and all :D. I like a lot of the UK hardcovers (not all) vs. the US hardcovers myself but I only have a few on hand as I'm just starting my UK collection. If you want to get crazy and make me some one off UK slipcases, I'll foot the bill!

Another use for the CD red slipcase. Perfect fit for October Dreams II although an orange or black would be a better match.

Few more slipcases from JW. The UK The Fireman slipcase will fit the US edition as it's only slightly shorter. The UK EOW slipcases will not fit the US trade.
