Here are the first three book shelves from my library. I probably won't take photos of everything, as I doubt anyone much cares to see the stacks of paperbacks I have scattered about :).

http://i.imgur.com/L7k5Ohcl.jpg

Lettered copies of the DRP editions of Simon Stantzas's collections, and the deluxe limited of the Pugmire/Thomas collection.

http://i.imgur.com/78AHVhPl.jpg

My Jeffrey Thomas collection.

http://i.imgur.com/mhfh6ZSl.jpg

Ligotti, more Strantzas, Barron, etc.

http://i.imgur.com/7arQoMpl.jpg

My DarkFuse full-size hardcover shelf. I'm only missing Long Black Coffin and the Border Trilogy, though I'm have a deal in place for the latter. Also another copy of Deadstock, and the softcover things on top are the first issue of the now-defunct Phatasmagorium magazine and the three Felix Renn chapbooks by Ian Rogers (two copies of the third one).

Two things:

1) Forgive the funky angles on some photos, right now everything is crammed into my man cave and space is limited, so bookshelves end up in odd places.

2) Forgive the horrible organization. I'm planning on getting some real bookshelves in the near future and will be able to sort everything then.

The story here is that I bought the first edition of Beneath the Surface literally the day before the DRP reprint was announced. Simon found out and sent me an inscribed TPB copy, that letter, the insert, and a chapbook.

http://i.imgur.com/8oUXByTl.jpg

That hard-to-make-out black one is My Own Private Spectres by Jean Ray.

http://i.imgur.com/CvwxE5Gl.jpg

Hidden behind that DRP edition of Charnell Wine is the original Rainfall edition.

http://i.imgur.com/GASsmRxl.jpg

The second volume of the Titus Crow books is signed. The chapbook beside London Macabre is The Hollow Earth, also by Savile.

Thanks for starting a new collection thread. It is always great to have more books to covet! By the way we love stacks of paperbacks, bring it on!

The Bob Leman collection is signed, but I don't know if it's actually Bob's signature as he passed away not very long after that book was published. I've tried to find an image of his signature on the internet but have had no luck.

http://i.imgur.com/OVP4rpFl.jpg

Some DRP titles and others.

http://i.imgur.com/AWLPVRIl.jpg

The two Scott Thomas books that are hard to make out are Quill & Candle and Urn & Willow. Another set of Allyson Bird books from DRP; the TPBs in the previous post were sent instead of the hardcovers in this one; the DRP guys told me to just keep the TPBs.

You may want to ask the publisher. There is a good possibility that he signed the tip in sheets prior to his passing. CD just shipped a signed Rick Hautala novel and unfortunatly he passed away prior to its release.

I know it wasn't issued as a signed edition as I've seen copies without the signature. Midnight House/John Pelan was the publisher, and he's notoriously difficult to get in touch with. I posted about it on the Ligotti forums a couple of years back and someone that had several signed legal documents from Leman was going to scan one so I could see the signature, but he disappeared before doing so. This will probably remain the great unsolved mystery of my collection :D.

Again, my apologies for the crooked pictures.

http://i.imgur.com/cWQkRfUl.jpg

Nothing special about these. The TPBs serving as bookends are laid out below.

http://i.imgur.com/D7pedwTl.jpg

Jim Butcher Shelf 1. All of the hardcovers are signed. Technically pictured but impossible to see are Backup by Jim Butcher and illustrated by Mike Mignola (signed by both), and The Kosher Guide to Imaginary Animals by the Vandermeers (inscribed to me).

http://i.imgur.com/6OAqKqhl.jpg

Jim Butcher Shelf 2. All the Alera books are signed, as are the SubPress books (obviously). The UK edition of Emperor of Thorns is the S/N edition from Goldsboro books. Mysteriously cut out of the picture is Scourge of the Betrayer by Jeff Salyards.

http://i.imgur.com/cqTrBnel.jpg

The Wheel of Time. The first two Sanderson volumes are signed.

http://i.imgur.com/AwsvNFul.jpg

Leatherbound LOTR, my first copy of The Hobbit, given to me by a friend of my dad's, and a signed paperback copy of The World and Thorinn.

My (few) CD titles.

http://i.imgur.com/VLhjqyVl.jpg

Urban fantasy shelf. Broken Homes and The Dirty Streets of Heaven are signed.

http://i.imgur.com/pWxJCRKl.jpg

One copy of Wise Man's Fear is signed, and the three Chris Evans books are inscribed to me via author's bookplates.

http://i.imgur.com/FvAUZzNl.jpg

The bottom shelf, which has a bunch of BCE and misc. titles stacked in front of the good stuff.

http://i.imgur.com/QG0AYwul.jpg

Behind the stacks. All of the Sanderson title except The Alloy of Law are signed, with The Way of Kings also being signed by the interior and map artists. Two of the Connolly books are signed.

http://i.imgur.com/Uycnvpel.jpg

Urban fantasy paperbacks.

http://i.imgur.com/sIGxYF0l.jpg

The bookends from the first photo. Damned Nation is inscribed to me by one of the editors. The two jacketless books are Gods in Darkness and Midnight Sun by Karl Edward Wagner (BCE editions). I don't think the magazines need explanation on this forum :).

http://i.imgur.com/dTrKEkkl.jpg

Tracy Hickman titles, all of which are signed. Grim Company isn't.

http://i.imgur.com/KGlWPxCl.jpg

Shelf 1 of Delirium novellas. I was a member since nearly the beginning of their novella book club; what titles I didn't get automatically, I picked up later. Immun3, the first book in the row, is the same size but predates the book club.

http://i.imgur.com/9fAOKXil.jpg

The rest of the Delirium novellas and all of the DarkFuse novellas published to date.

http://i.imgur.com/vOBTFGNl.jpg

My Dark Tower collection, plus some other stuff. That's a first book club edition of Dune.

http://i.imgur.com/lIweDAdl.jpg

Dean Koontz and Gene Wolfe. The UK edition of Fear Nothing is signed and dated.

Technically the second half of my Stephen King collection, but the first pictured. Also T.E.D. Klein.

I'm slowly working my way toward a full collection of Feist's Midkemia books in hardcover. Shadow of a Dark Queen is signed.

http://i.imgur.com/9nIAKJtl.jpg

The rest of my King collection. The firs three are book club titles. One of the copies of Skeleton Crew is a BCE, the other two are first edition copies (one is all messed up though). A stand-alone copy of "The Mist" is hiding behind Insomnia.

BCE editions mostly.

One things with DRP (especially re: grab bag), is that they sure have a lot of titles I would really love to own, yet they also have many that I don't care much for at all - I have yet to get a DRP grab bag because of this.

slayn666
04-22-2014, 02:11 AM
In retrospect I shouldn't have expected a whole lot from the grab bag; I own a large number of DRP titles and the remaining titles I'm interested in are few and far between.

I had two real problems with the whole experience. First, at the level I ordered (the biggest one), the product description said it'd include a book from another publisher with a retail value of at least $40. The book I got was Menace by Gary Fry, which a) I already own and b) retails for $37.50. I know it's a small price difference, and it probably wouldn't have fazed me had I not already owned the book, but as things stand it left a sour taste in my mouth.

Second, I ordered another book separate from the grab bag (The Universal and Other Terrors by Tony Richards) and it wasn't sent to me. It wasn't sent because they'd sold their last copy on eBay the previous week, which is fine, but they didn't offer this information to me and just kept my money until I emailed them about it. (In their defense, they did have the a copy of the lettered edition they offered to sell to me at a discount once I pointed out I was short a book.)

Great adds. I loved Four Rode Out --dirty, grimy and scary.

I swear by Goo Gone. I've rescued sooooo many DJs with that stuff. It even works on paperbacks.

Never had problems with it fading the ink? I've used it on a few less expensive books and dvds to remove price tags, but seems to make ink run or fade.

Never had a problem with it. I've even let it sit for 10 minutes on a particularly nasty sticker.

Fair enough. Maybe I've applied too much, or perhaps rubbed too vigorously *insert joke here*.

It may depend on the type of paper the jacket is made of, ie glossy vs matte.

When I use Goo Gone I apply it to a paper towel, not the dust jacket itself.

That's what I do, but it probably has more to do with the finish being matte or not well laminated.

I apply it directly to the jacket. Most of the jackets I have are the glossy type, but I tested it on a Sub Press DJ and it didn't harm it at all. I have removed several stickers from CD books I have bought online with no problem.

Finally got off my lazy ass and took some photos. They are huge and this forum doesn't seem to support the timg tag, so I'll just drop a link to the gallery:

That's just killer! Great looking shelves in addition to the collection. Also impressed that as a cornerstone you've got Calvin and Hobbes. Well done sir, well done.

Those are really nice shelves and more books than you can shake a stick at as my old man used to say.

Oh hey my thread.

So I may or may not have mentioned I'm a huge Jeffrey Thomas fan. One of my collecting goals is to get at least one edition of each of his books. Some are easier to get than others, with the most difficult being A Puppet Show, Nether, and the Ultra edition of Punktown, largely because only 26 copies of each were made (plus some PC copies, of course). I've already posted pictures in this thread of the copy of A Puppet Show I managed to snag, leaving only two of the super-rare titles to pick up.

Well...

Those lines on the book are features of the leather, not damage or anything.
