    Best Vampire novels?

What is your all time favourite vampire novel?

I haven't read a ton, Dracula, 'Salem's Lot, and the novella length Carmilla by Sherdian Le Fanu. Of the three Carmilla was by far my favourite, Le Fanu has amazing prose, and the story was very original.

I liked Salems lot. Also Interview with a Vampire. Simon Clark's vampiric books are great.

I don't read a lot of vampire fiction, though I did enjoy Vampire$ by Steakley quite a bit. I like my vampires mean and nasty, not tragic. Motherless Child by Hirshberg is supposed to be pretty good.

Haven't read many either bit I really enjoyed The Passage and The Twelve. The Strain Trilogy was pretty good. The Nathanial Cade series by Christopher Farnsworth are good too although those are more adventure thriller then horror though.

In my opinion, the best vampire novels are the following:

          5. Let The Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist
          4. Interview With The Vampire by Anne Rice
          3. Dracula by Bram Stoker
          2. Salem's Lot by Stephen King
          1. I Am Legend by Richard Matheson

I think Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel, about a sole survivor of a horrific vampire plague is one of the greatest horror stories ever written.

I Am Legend was a great novel too, I don't know why I didn't think of it at first.

Not much into vampires, but I loved Salem's Lot, and plan on getting I Am Legend at some point. My wife however......loved the Twilight series.

I can't believe I forgot about I Am Legend! I am hanging my head in shame right now. I haven't read The Passage yet, though I've heard good things. Let The Right One In is in my TBR pile and I plan on getting to it this year.

I haven't read a lot of vampire fiction either, but I am Legend and Carmilla are two of the best I've read. 'Salem's Lot was also a standout.

I loved Ray Garton's "Live Girls" and "Night Life."

                          I like Poppy Z. Brite's stuff.

I want to love Anne Rice, but it's only like. I think she has some great stories, but for my tastes they tend to drag on a bit and be way too slow.
