Hello everyone,

Like a lot of die-hard Stephen King fans, I missed the opportunity to purchase a copy of the limited signed & numbered 25th Anniversary edition of IT. :(

As this is one of my absolute favourite books of all time, I am desperately wanting to get my hands on a signed limited edition of this book.

I have seen a few copies of this book for sale on Ebay recently, but the asking price has been beyond my humble income. :(

If anyone out there with a copy of this book is willing to sell it to me for a reasonable price, please do contact me. I am a true Stephen King fan and I can promise that this book would be treasured and not re-sold. :)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You have a tough journey ahead unfortunately. I would think if you can nab that s/l for under $700 you got a decent deal. Sadly joining the King collectors can be an expensive affair. What I would recommend is keeping your eyes out for the gift edition, just as much quality and has the nice slipcase and you can find them usually not a whole lot more than published price.

They've been going for about $600 - $700 now on ebay, etc. pretty regularly. Even the unsigned gift editions are getting $250 - $300 usually now. But never say never. I've always found patience pays off!

There's a signed edition on ebay right now starting at $500 that currently has no bids.

This is one of my real holy grails, one day I hope to get it. It is my all time favourite King book. I'm hoping at some point I'll either have the money or a trade to get myself that book.

I have one I'll be willing to dump if the price is right. It would be a lot lower than the BIN price on the above link. PM me if really interested.

Damn the Ebay listing has now ended... it sold for $760 in the last few seconds to another buyer.:mad:

The same seller has just re-listed the same book (no. 62/750) after it was sold for $760???

Here is the link:

Does this mean that he has been bidding on his own item to bump the price up and ended up winning it?

Strange, the auction ended and someone won it for $760 but now it has been relisted with a higher starting bid

Maybe the reserve hadn't been met?

Initially that's what I thought, until I checked the original listing and noticed that there was no reserve price.

I still have the original listing saved on my Ebay account as I was watching the item.

Multiple copies??

No reserve, I think this guy pulled a shady move. To have it up in seconds tells me he tried to bait the price up and no one took it.

I totally agree. I have just completed a report form on Ebay for them to investigate it further.

bdwyer19 on TDT forums posted this about it.
The seller told me that the buyer didn't want to pay sales tax.

But if there's multiple bidders, can't they offer it to the next highest bidder? I thought there was five bids for it.

Tommy

I don't think that's fair either, it should be offered to the last bidder, the seller obviously thought he was going to get more out of it, he re-listed it for much more than the previous auction

This is completely bogus. It's obvious the seller had a shill or two try to bid it up and when the top bid was either won by his shill or wasn't the high price he wanted, he just said "fuck it; I'm not letting it go for that price" and re-listed it. However, a winning eBay bid is a contract and should be honored.

Either way (shill or refusing to sell), it's a scummy move.

And I'm not sure why he thinks the book is worth more than $760.

I'm inclined to think he had a separate account bidding on it as well.

I have also noticed that the book is actually damaged. If you look at the far right photograph that shows the spine and zoom over the top left part of it, you will see that the edge is badly dented. It looks like he has either dropped the book or knocked it against something.

However, in the listing he describes the book as "MINT CONDITION AND NO WEAR AND TEAR WHATSOEVER."

So not only is he using a shill to bump the price up and instantly re-listing it when he wins his own auction, he is also falsely describing the condition of the book.

I've noticed a lot of people use key words to describe their items as fine or mint but when one really looks at it there is often something wrong with it. I think sellers sometimes take into consideration how old an item is and then list it (without stating) "well, it's a 30 year old book in mint condition so you have to expect damage/wear for a book this old, so yeah it's mint." I (and probably everyone) want the seller to honest and forthright with the description.

Normally, I would be all over a copy of this book selling at $499, but I wont go anywhere near this seller even if someone put a gun to my head. :p

Oh I nearly forgot..... and the book is damaged. :p :p
