Reviews-
Wow! I use collections of short stories to check out authors that I've never read. I find it helps me to decide if I like the writing and whether or not I want to read read more by a particular author. Would I read a novel by Mr Rice? YES!!!

The collection 'Tales From An Apartment' had horror, in many forms. There was a varied collection, dealing with different topics, (good vs evil, zombies, etc...) Each story had a different feel, and a surprising end. I especially loved 'The Second Death Of Timothy Moseley'. Creepy and touching at the same time, and that is a really difficult thing to achieve.

Some of the stories are amusing in a macabre way, some deal with subjects that we don't like to think about, some are disturbing, but all of them are worth reading. So often with collections of short stories, there are at least two or three 'throw aways', but not in this collection!

Do yourself a favor, read this collection. If you are a fan of horror, you'll love it. If you aren't a fan of horror, this might make you one! Either way, it's worth your time! -Emily

8 stories of horror and the bizarre from the extraordinarily creative (and wild) imagination of accomplished author Gerald Rice are set in apartment venues, where the "normal" frame of reference is turned-on its head, on its side, even reversed. This is apartment living like you've never experienced it before.

The very first story, "Slug," contains one of the best sentences I've read in forever, as if author Rice stood inside my mind and perceived life the way I do. If I hadn't determined some time ago to read everything he writes, I would decide that right now. I'm a convert! The prose, the characterizations, the plotting, the settings, are all delightful-fast-paced, yet the reader will keep pausing to savour, and even reread, some of these excellent sentences. A Gerald Rice story or novel is a joy indeed, a pleasure meant to be sipped at, and never rushed. Every story is an adventure, one from which the reader will return subtly altered, for the better. This short story collection can be perused very quickly-but please don't: settle in, take your time, enjoy. -Mallory

I read all of the ebooks I own (2) when I forgot my book on vacation. Forgot my book again today, so on the commute back home from work I'll be able to give this a read! Thanks again! :)
