It is great, but apart from the reason that i don't collect remarques anymore, i wouldn't want it because of Alex McVey's remarque. It's great, it really is but he isn't one of the books illustrators!

Hope it fetches a nice sum though

I see what you mean Tom, makes this a 1/2 remarque / 1/2 art jobbie I suppose ... Having said that, it's still quite a nice piece :D

Douglas Adams said that some scientists theorized that this had already happened and had been replaced by something even more bizarre; It's just that nobody noticed.

Go to post #55 and beyond!!!! It will be a truly unique and "one of a kind" item. A collector such as yourself, Sir Wootton will not want to miss out on this!!!! And let "Carlosdetweiller" or David at "Betts" have it? I dare say no way!!!! LOL

I'm thinking that this one will get very intense towards the end. Did you take the day of for the bidding war Grant? ;)

Grant Wootton
04-01-2012, 09:43 PM
Hmmm - the auction ends around about 0245 local time ... so, depends on whether I can rouse myself out of bed for this :D You're right though Pete, the last 1/2 hour will, I believe, go ballastic !!!!

Merlin1958
04-02-2012, 02:54 AM
It's a very unique item. Not often you can get an "outside the publication" artist to do a remarque. Most stick to material they have been commissioned to do in the past. Kudo's to McVey for thinking "outside the box". Plus, Erin did an amazing full page!!!

So how do you feel about your new acquisition, Mr. Woot? Quite the steal for $510.00!

Grant Wootton
04-02-2012, 08:05 PM
Why would you automatically assume that I was the winning bidder Mr Boone ? A little presumptuous :p

srboone
04-02-2012, 08:09 PM
Not at all, Mr. Woot! It's respect! (I actually bid, 501.00! You being more expereinced in these matters, I figured you bid 510.00, knowing that some schlub out there would try to steal it for 501.00!)

Grant Wootton
04-02-2012, 08:17 PM
Aw crap Squire - were you the one with the max bid of $501 that had it pretty much up until the auction close??? :(

Congrats Grant but goddamn just the same :p. I key in a $500 maximum bid two days earlier and stayed so long as the top bidder that I was so confident of getting the item, I did not get up to watch the final rounds of bidding (1am here in Malaysian time was the bidding deadline). That's ebay newbie for ya.

Grant Wootton
04-03-2012, 06:57 AM
Thanks guys - and, sorry to you too Sunny - the only difference between you and I is that I set the alarm for 2:30am local time so I was all caffeined up and raring to go at 3am local when the auction ended (1am your time). Believe me, you can never be confident that a maximum bid will sit too long on an item like this, particularly having the bid in so darn early - two days before the close is way too early. My advice, FWIW, go in late, go in hard (with the max you're prepared to spend) then cross your fingers and hope for the best :o Oh, and love KL too, my partner and I visited in January this year - Awesome !!!!
