I wasn't going to do this then decided to do it anyway. I wasn't going to because my collection is measley and full of cheap ratty books but I decided to start posting now then just add each book when I get them that way I wont end up posting 10,000 books at one time like one other SK collector I know had to :p I have 4 orders with CD I am impatiently awaiting right now so they will come next. For now...

These I keep out front my favorite books...(The book itself not the story, havent even read IT or The Colorado Kid yet) The Colorado Kid is here because my boyfriend hada go through some shit to get it through ebay (He doesnt have an ebay account, a cc or paypal so it was quite the joint effort between him and his dad trying to get it on time for Christmas)
4381

My Favorite and most expensive book to date...
4382

Pop-up version of my ACTUAL favorite SK book...
4383

Top shelf, All first editions (Not necessarily first print, I Honestly have no Idea) Also a few missing DJ's
4384

Second Shelf mostly paperbacks, nothing special here...
4385

I would like to add though that these two shelves( Minus Lisey's story PB, and The Green Mile) were purchased in a lot for $100 at a flea market because my boyfriend wanted me to get as many as possible for christmas and it turned out that half of them were first editions. I added up the individual sale value for each book based on average ebay sales and skcollector.com and got about $250 for the firsts alone (probably not accurate) Either way if I'm off he still got a good deal, accidentally.

My Dark Tower PB's and for some reason my boyfriends Watchmen...
4386

On The way (hopefully someday soon..lol):
IT Artwork
The John Russo/George Romero Signed Night of the Living Dead script (My boyfriends B-day gift though...hopefully. C'mon CD...lol)
Pure
Forthcoming Grabag (4 books..some of which I may not keep)
Glenn Chadburne DT T-Shirt

Nobody's collection is insignificant, Teri. Books are makind's greatest invention and even the smallest library is an acheivement! Your collection is greater than mine was at twenty-five.

Give that 25th Ann. It a chance. It feels nice in your hands, reading in an easy chair.:o

srboone

To tell you, the truth, I think mine is pretty insignificant, but I'm having fun. I know most of what I post has been seen before, but I'm enjoying going through them an reaquainting myself with what i have.

Besides, this is a nice support group for those of us who are moving closer to the poor house!

And your boyfriend's Watchmen is there because it wants to hang out with the cool guys!

Great start Teri, and I echo Squire's remarks - there are small collections, there are large collections - but there are no insignificant collections, they're equally important, and I'm pleased that you've kicked the ball and are now running with it, forum wise

I agree, I don't think my collection is very large either, but it's definitely larger than it used to be. Mine collectible book collection started with a single book, which was Blockade Billy. I already had a bunch of book by then, but none collectible. I think when I was 25 I had at least 200 books, but mainly paperbacks and a majority I got for very cheap off Amazon or free when I was in Iraq from people sending a ton of books to the soldiers. I think I left Iraq with at least 100 books in a large Tuff Box along with other personal items.

Your collection started off with a much more valuable book than mine since Blockade Billy only cost $25

srboone
02-20-2012, 08:46 AM
Blockcade Billy was my first collectible as well. I spent about a year discovering new authors and deciding which I liked and which I didn't.

Stick with CD and you'll find others you like.

Teri, every collection starts out small. Just remember to beware! Collecting is addictive and can lead to all sorts of complications (empty wallets, too much time spent searching for stuff on the internet, etc.) :-)

Teri, it's great to see another collection thread. You're off to a very good start. FYI, I would say the Watchmen book belongs on that shelf. Even if it's the boyfriend's, you need to read it too.

Theres not a single non SK on that shelf and there won't be until Pure arrives which I only bought to sell later if the movie is a success, and the watchmen of course which I will never read because I can't do Graphic novels. I prefer to see it in my own head thanks. I will however have no choice but to read the DT graphics. I will be purchasing the Marvel Omnibus when I get around to it. It's not exactly top on my list right now. I dont even know if I have a copy of the wind through the keyhole coming because I asked my boyfriend to get me the artist edition from DMG and I have no idea if he did. I don't read my books though, not anymore. They're there to be pretty and collectable not to be read. That's what my sony E-Reader is for and it includes everything SK has published, unlike my bookshelf.

Teri, it is a slippery slope. I began collecting books by buying first edition hardbound copies of new Stephen King books on the day of release, When I got the anthology 999 featuring a king story I noticed that the copyright page said 'previously published in a limited edition by cemetery dance'. I little Google search and a lot of money later here I am. With that said I cherish my books and cannot imagine not having them.

Very nice start.I agree that no collection is to small or to large to share.I can only echo what others have said. This is a very disfunctional family of fun loving book loving maniacs.Welcome aboard.I have only been collecting for 4 years and You will be surprised at how fast your collection will grow.I do have to disagree with you on
reading your books. That is what they are for to take down look through and read and enjoy.I used to feel like you when I started collecting but as the books came I started to realise how great the quality was,and how much I enjoyed reading them as opposed to just looking at them.Give it time and you will understand.Great start I look forward to seeing more.

I agree on the reading. As long as you are careful about it, lol. The quality is much much better than what the mass market books. It's usually pretty obvious when a large HC book from the big companies has been read. The same book coming from a company like Cemetery Dance will still look marvelous

Shitty apartments don't have room for books. I've lived in enough of them. Teriw
03-04-2012, 06:35 PM
I was glad he didnt order it because even though they didnt even confirm my order yet ill still get it before June. lol. Now he has to order me the Talisman/Blackhouse set from DMG and it has to be the DT7 bundle so i'll have all 3 for the cheaper price. Might have to order it myself and get him to give me the money back though...no one will give him a damn credit card and only cuz he has no credit...its rediculous. He's gonna have to start buying prepaid cards er something.

bookworm 1
03-04-2012, 06:44 PM
Not a bad idea.I don't think it will help him with his credit though. It sucks that you can't get credit unless you have credit.I remember trying to get a car loan 23 years ago and being told that paying your rent and utility bills every month did not count towards getting credit.Yet noone was willing to give me a credit card.Eventually things will work out for him they did for me.Can't wait to see your post of NOTLD script.

Teriw
03-04-2012, 07:15 PM
It won't help him with his credit but it'll stop me from having to do his online shopping for him. lol. His own bank won't even give him a secured card, which is rediculous because thats what theyre for and its your own money so theres no risk to the bank and it does help your credit.

Here it is at last...My VERY FIRST ARC. Sorry about the pictures my phone wasn't agreeing with the glossy finish so I had to back up a lot

5544

It's actually bigger in height and width than IT:25th, which is hard to see...
5545

So I tried this...Ignore the Jack Russell ass. I didn't even know he was in the room.
5546

Not nearly as thick obviously but still over an inch maybe 1.5 inches.
5547

I didn't expect the art to be in the ARC and was rather surprised.
5548

For anyone who hasn't seen it the Chadbourne art is on CD and Glenn's website.

At least I am counting on their lazyness and hoping they didnt rip my pkg apart and not put it back properly. You shoulda seen the package my friend got over christmas. The Hardcover are the original (not really bound) scripts that have been sent to a binder along with a sig sheet. The original version was basically the script in a project folder. It's a very odd project.

srboone
03-23-2012, 05:44 PM
So the project is limited to 1000 signed copies, 100 of which are HCs. TEri has copy #57 of the HCs which is also # 228 of the 1000. The HCs aren't numbered consecutively, tho......I think I got it.

Most people here work it as well. It's not a statutory holiday so people don't get paid for it but government employees, civic employees and some private business like lawyers who don't want to work don't. I however work for an "emergency service" and even have to work Christmas. Fortunately for me though I took vacation this christmas and someone else had to do it and ended up having my rotating weekend off fall on easter weekend so I am off Saturday through tuesday. back on wednesday. Teri, if it means anything to you...I don't have a 1st Trade Skeleton Crew...I hate you!;)

My first bit of Hate. Love it. Pictures are crisp because I did manage to find Bert's Digital SLR so it works very well. Apparently I could have taken better page pics since it has a document setting which my sister didn't tell me until I was done. I have more books of course. a few I posted already, and I have a second print of...firestarter maybe? I forget. a second print of The Shinning that is missing a DJ and not in the best shape. IT's still one of my favorite books, mainly because it looks so old and haggard...seems fitting for an SK book. 2 or 3 others HC's and I dont know what PB's I have. DT of course. other than that I am not 100% sure. prob only about 10 of em not counting DT. Anyway they will come soon because I have to put them on Facebook so Mason knows what I have so he can buy me more. lol.

Coming soon:
Cujo 1st? (Coming with Mase at the end of the month)

In the Mail:

The sister in law just informed me by accident that I have more than just cujo coming when mason gets home. She told me he bought me books plural and he only mentioned the one. So excited to find out what they might be.

She also sent me a kijiji add with a guy selling his collection. First picture right out front had three possible first editions that I don't have. The green mile paperbacks, creepshow, and the regulators. I emailed him and asked if he still has them. I think he is selling them for $5 each.

Teriw
04-13-2012, 03:43 AM
Shut up. I love transformers. Lol.

I just popped on to say...MY MOM IS AWESOME. I showed her my IT art and she was right into it.I open it to the wrap around art and I get "ughhhh that damn clown" so while I'm showing her the pennywise hand n balloons I say u saw this movie right? Hoping I wouldn't have to explain anything n she says yea. Here's my favorite part....I flip to the next piece of the storm drain with the baloon sticking out n she says "we all float down here" in her best(horrible) Tim curry impression. I was weak.

So she continued to look through every single piece very attentively saying "ohhhh I remember that" "I don't remember that" "oh the lumberjack" it was great. I rather enjoy looking at my king stuff with mom. Every time I get something new she's like are ya gonna show me that? She doesn't read but she likes horror and sk movies. She asked if I got my Carrie piece yet n I explained the whole shipping it 10 times thing before they can ship it to me. She seemed disapointed.

Teriw
04-13-2012, 06:28 AM
My parents are into the collecting part but only because they know its something thats also and investment later because of the sk aftermarket being so high. Noting I have is worth a lot but everything I have is worth more than I paid for it.

Most of them Teri, we get the UK Hodder & Stoughton versions of the books out here (just today received an email for TWTTK, it, again, will only be carried by our major retailers as a large paper back style - so pleased I get all my booksoverseas !!!!) so most of the US PB covers are unknown to me, which is cool - gives me other stuff to look at

Not for maybe 15 years now (give or take) - you can still get HC's, but mostly only through specialty books sellers or bargain basement places (although they have nothing that I want to read anyway :(). No one out here wants to pay $45 - $60 for a HC anymore, not when you can get the larger PB's for $25 :( Anyways, I don't care, cos I get all my stuff offshore, so Australian reading habits (with the off exception on this illustrious forum) can continue on the slippery slope to hell and it'll make no nevermind to me) ;) BTW - liking your new avatar Teri --- it's so .... so ... so .... well, it's so ... They pretty much have the same thing in Poland. If something is hardcover its usually done without a DJ, the art is on the book cover itself. And all the English book stores usually carry only a very few new releases in HC (uk versions most of the time) and the rest is just pb's.

So I'm glad just like you that I order everything online. I miss being able to walk into a book store and just but stuff from the shelves. Had a borders real close to me in NJ. Ahhh the comforts we take for granted.

So I'm glad just like you that I order everything online. I miss being able to walk into a book store and just but stuff from the shelves. Had a borders real close to me in NJ. Ahhh the comforts we take for granted.

Haha, yeah that is true. But I guess I would have just started going elsewhere. :)

It is getting harder to do that. There are fewer Barnes & Noble locations, most large retailers carry very few hardbounds. Here in the northwest even Powell's books is reducing staff.

I'm hating on rob Lowe at the moment. Its not helping. Someone needs to post an awesome sk book. That might help..
